Forces and Motion
Kia Ora,
Last week Emily and Ellen from Science in a Van came to our school to give us the chance of a life time that we will never forget, to learn about forces and motion! The coolest thing was with Steve the rubber chicken and his air-powered 'rocket' (actually an L&P bottle). Once Steve was attached to the harness, Ellen and various members of the seniors that were watching pumped up the bottle with air and-WOOSH! the bottle flew up to the roof of the hall on a piece of string. The seniors went wild with happiness.

Term 2 highlights

Hello! In term 2 we did  St Teresa's Catholic Schools Day Winter Sport Cross Country Eel Projects ASB get wise Sparkle Day Rams - basketball day Middleton Grange Music Academy But the most exiting bit was... When Mr. Chitty came in to teach us about Deep Sea Diving! He taught us about the different breeds of sea creatures and their habitat. The Spaghetti - Marshmellow Challenge

The Spaghetti - Marshmallow Challenge Kia Ora everyone,  I hope you have enjoyed my blogs so far. This post will be about the science challenge that we did today. The materials were pretty limiting. We only had: 1 meter of string 1 meter of tape 20 spaghetti sticks 1 marshmallow We had to craft a tower in only 18 minutes! The first plan for my team was: Step 1: Make a square base Step 2: Make spikes from all the corners of the base Step 3: Stick the spaghetti sticks into the marshmallow Step 4: stick four spaghetti sticks into the marshmallow, outwards Step 5: around the top of the outwards-pointing sticks, make a square base Step 6: Put a cross connecting the corners of the higher square Unfortunately when it came time for judging, the marshmallow made our tower lean, then fall over!
